Professional Training and Modification of Behavior
This course is aimed at those who wish to become dedicated professional trainers (no
prior experience is necessary). The objectives of this course are to provide the student
with a solid understanding of how to coordinate a training program, and to give insight
into the different specialties available (e.g. handicapped assistance, rescue, IPO, ring,
drug search, marketing, etc.). Those topics of interest to the student will be emphasized.
The course includes a module to help familiarize the student with the business aspects of
this field, including where to get help and subsidies, various legal requirements, etc.
Training Assistant Dogs for the Physically Handicapped
This course first provides a broad and solid understanding of dogs and dog
training in general, after which it focuses on training dogs to be versatile
and functional helpers for people with different physical disabilities. There
are modules on the basic study of different disabilities, the knowledge,
management and use of specific technical elements in training (manual and
electric wheelchairs, crutches, signs, etc.), and associations and people who
may be interested in helping with the implementation of an Assistance Dog
project. No previous knowledge is required.
